The BF494 NPN Medium Frequency Transistor is an NPN Medium Frequency transistor which can be used in low voltage low current applications. It has a gain of 67 to 220 and a transition frequency of 120MHz at IC=1mA and VCE=10V. It can be used in applications such as radio and television receivers, FM tuners, Low noise AM, mixer-oscillators, IF amplifiers in AM/FM receivers. The maximum collector current is 30mA so make sure you do not cross it and fry your transistor.
As it is an NPN transistor like BC547, 2N2222 that means you have to provide base pin some voltage to get it in conducting/saturation region. Care should be taken to keep the currents under maximum permissible limits as its maximum power dissipation is 300mW.
